Day 4 - Tracy Arm Fjord

There was too much ice for our ship to go any closer to the glacier so this is as close as we got.  Still pretty cool to see from here.

Day 4 - Leaving Juneau to go to Tracy Arm Fjord

After a short but exciting day at Juneau we headed to Tracy Arm Fjord.  These are a few of the many photos we took along the way

Day 4 - Juneau - Whale Watchig

Whale Watching!

This was our first shore excursion.  We took a bus from our pier to another area north of Juneau where we boarded a double decked tour boat. During the tour we saw 3 Orcas leap out of the water.  The tour guide said she had never seen orcas jump so far out of the water!  They were two large orcas and one small one. We also got to see hump back whales and their tails as they dove!

Interesting note, we also got to see humpback whales as well as two orcas and a seal from our balcony.  The humpback whale was right out side our balcony and when it blew water it was very loud!

The above photo was the last photo I was able to take before I ran out of memory.  Our whale watching tour also included a salmon bake.  After looking for whales and other wild life the tour boat took us to an island that had a large cabin on it.  The cabin had a large dining area and a gift shop.  They had a nice lunch for us there which included grilled salmon!
